First of all I want to say - aren't these kids adorable? I love big brother's wavy hair and beautiful brown eyes. Little sister's cubby cheeks are precious (sigh)... and those long lashes are gorgeous.

I am loving the sunny and mild weather we are having in Atlanta these past few days. It has been beautiful and I am soooo ready for spring. I was excited when I talked to my dear friend about a session for her children. I had not seen their family in a long time and couldn't wait to see how much the kids had grown. I had a great time catching up and capturing photos of these two cuties. I hope to see you guys again sometime very soon! Here are a few sneak peeks from our time together...

The BEST gift ever and Happy New Year | Atlanta Newborn Photographer

Happy 2012! I hope that you all had a fabulous holiday. I was able to spend some restful time with family over the break and am now ready to get back to work. I am looking forward to great things to come in 2012 for Audrey Daum Photography!!

When I was pregnant with my second child, I found myself very worried about how my older daughter would respond to the new baby. Well, the reaction my older daughter had to my new little one in the hospital was love at first sight. The reaction she had to me... was not as warm and fuzzy. She would not come near me. I was destroyed. Then my doctor walked in and said "Audrey, do not worry. This is the BEST gift you could ever give to her. I promise you."

This precious little one is already adored by her older sister. SHE is the best gift her mom and dad will EVER give to her older sister. What a special Christmas it was for this family. I am so thankful that I was able to be a part of it and capture these tender sister moments. It melts my heart over and over every time I work on these photos (and I am tearing up as I type now). What a special Thanksgiving it was for this adorable family. They were able to celebrate the birth of a healthy, beautiful, snuggly, peaceful and precious little angel. What a blessing. She was a dream and it was such a pleasure to be able to photograph this little one during the Thanksgiving holiday.

This weekend I was reminded of all that I am thankful for. I am thankful for my own children and family who support me and love me. I am thankful for having a job that I truly love and for my awesome clients that allow me to capture these tender moments. I am thankful for all of the memories made during 2011 and as I wrap up sessions for the year, I look forward to all that lies ahead in 2012!

You may recognize this pretty senior from some family photos that we did with her family a few months ago. I was so excited that I had the opportunity to work with her again for SENIOR photos! Yay! Senior photos! I love doing senior photos! This senior was an absolute joy to work with. She is smart, beautiful and the sweetest person you will ever meet. (no surprise coming from such an awesome family :)

I am thrilled with the photos that we captured. We lucked out on the weather and we were still able to find some remaining fall leaves on the trees after a few really rainy days. ... try again another day! And that is just what we did! On the day of our session the weather forecast said 60% chance of rain. One hour before the session and there was still no rain so we set out to give it a shot. As we arrived the weather took a turn and it started to sprinkle and get VERY dark and gloomy.

I am so glad that we opted to reschedule for another day because our second try was a perfect day! The weather was beautiful and spirits were high. We got some awesome family shots that I cannot wait to share. Here are a few sneak peeks. I will probably post more from this session because I just love too many. Thank you "H" family for getting dressed and coming out twice! I think the final results were worth it :)

This has to be one of the nicest families that I have met. Even though it has been brutally hot outside, we managed to find a shaded and cool(er) area to hang out for a while and capture some family shots. Special thanks to their kind neighbor who allowed us to use his fabulous backyard.

April 16th is the National Cupcake Kids Sale!

That is only 4 days away!

The Cupcake Kids are little people with big hearts for God and the children of Uganda.

Did you know that there are government facilities called "remand centers" that exist throughout the continent of Africa? These facilities were created for children who have "committed a crime". The homes are overcrowded and horribly underfunded. The living conditions are shocking.

The worst part is this - the vast majority of the children in these facilities have not committed any crime. Mostly, they are children who are simply unwanted. They are street beggars who have been rounded up by the police, unwanted children who have been dropped off by a stepparent, handicapped and mentally disabled orphans and orphaned refugees fleeing war torn countries in Africa.

"Sixty Feet" was created to bring hope and healing to these children through the love of Jesus Christ. They are improving the facilities by providing clean water, sanitation, bedding, clothing, medical care, nutritious food and school fees. They are also working to remove the most vulnerable children and place them in a loving, safe environment.

The Cupcake Kids sale is a "lemonade stand" type of sale. The children will be able to help other kids by selling cupcakes.

100% of the sales goes to "Sixty Feet".

I just wanted to let everyone know that I am scheduled to have surgery on my right hand tomorrow. Nothing too serious but it will force me to put down the camera for a few weeks. If possible, I will continue to try to post some photos that were taken over the last few months that I never had time to share.

Well, she proved me wrong. I normally tell parents that after about 6-7 days old newborn babies sleep less, curl less and sometimes start to develop newborn acne (which is true most of the time). This little sweetie pie was out to prove me wrong. She is 5 weeks old now and slept and curled like a champ! She is beautiful. When I think about her and look back over the photos, the words that come to mind are peaceful, graceful, and lovely. She was a fabulous 5 week old and so was the loving family that welcomed her into their lives. It has been a little while since my last newborn session and oh... how I missed it. Yipee! A Field! Do you know how hard it is to find a nice pretty field in the middle of metro Atlanta? Well, I have been searching for a while and this Mom found the perfect spot (and only minutes away from my house). I love working with this family! I get so excited about each of our sessions because Mom is never afraid to try something new. I am thrilled with how these turned out but unfortunately, right as we were taking our last shots... the security guard in the office building beside this beautiful field kicked us out. So the search for another field continues. Here are a few sneak peeks of the fun we had last week (BTW, these would be great in a photo book).

What? The sun is out? Wait a minute... something is different here. I have been photographing this sweet family since these 2 cutie pies were tee tiny and on every session that we have had it has rained. We have had to postpone sessions just about every time. So, when we got this sunny beautiful day we were confused :-) (but very happy). I love this family and am thrilled that they are expecting a new little addition soon. This little sweetie pie just started taking her first steps a day or so before our session. I was so excited to be able to capture this new found independence in photos. She is beautiful. You may remember this beautiful family from last year. Mom and Dad are so great with these four kiddos! I am in amazement just being around them. All of their children are so sweet and loving and you can see immediately how they look after each other. When I left this session I started thinking "how can I convince this family to hang out with us more?" We go to the same church and our kids have been in the same Sunday school class for a few years now. I adore them and have so much fun just being around them. Our session was full of giggles and fun. In my opinion, it is the photographer's job to draw out the personality of a child and capture that personality in the image. Usually this can take some work or time... but in this case her personality just SHINES immediately all on it's own. I love this little girl and her adorable brother. Ok... here we go! Summer is over. School has started and everyone has started back into our new fall routines. If you haven't already booked your holiday session, the time is NOW. I am close to being completely booked for 2010 with only a few spaces available for holiday sessions.

On another note... my pricing is about to change. All currently booked sessions and sessions booked before September 30 will receive current print/CD pricing. As of October 1, all pricing will be the new 2011 rates.

From the moment I walked in the door I was captivated by his big smile. I photographed him a few months ago when he was only a week old and now he is all smiles. I was tickled at how he grinned from ear to ear as soon as I started talking to him. I love his curls and cute baby cub!! The session started off with some bright eyes and happy faces...

...And then shortly after this photo was snapped, he gave a little yawn...

... followed by one little cry... and then... ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ, the power nap.

So, we moved onto some sweet sleeping photos.

We were even able to get some photos for a "baby parts" collage.

And then... "Oh, are you still here lady??"

Back to work...smiles again!!

It seems that before each session lately I have been waiting to see what the weather is going to do. It can be raining one second and then the sun pops out the next. Changes | Atlanta Maternity Photographer

I know that I have been MIA lately and I am so so sorry. Things have been really crazy around here. We sold our house and we are moving! (not far away) We are renovating the kitchen and floors of the new house before we move in BUT tomorrow is moving day and the house is not ready (go figure). We will be living in a construction site for a few weeks but hopefully it won't be too bad. We are really excited about the move because we will still be close to our old neighborhood (8 minutes away to be exact) but we will be in a bigger house with a much needed basement and playroom. There are a lot of changes ahead for my family, so I thought I would dedicate this post to things that change. Change is good!

What do we wear?? | Atlanta Family Photographer

What should we wear for our family photography session? This is a question that I get asked all of the time so I thought I would share an article that was written by the AMAZING Jeanette LeBlanc of Jeanette LeBlanc Photography. Hope this helps a little...

You are what you wear.

A little cliché? Perhaps. But when it comes to portrait photography, clothing plays a huge role in the success of the finished product.

Before we get going – let’s be clear what you’re clothing does NOT need to be:

1. Brand New
I’m down with your favorite ripped jeans, retro band T’s, and worn converse shoes – as long as you know how to rock them in your own fabulous style.

2. Fancy-Schmancy and Uber-Expensive
Unless it’s your thing (If it’s really your thing, then by all means baby, bring on the bling). If you’re not normally a dress-up kind of person, don’t feel like you have to be one for your session.

3. Matching
No need to focus on matching everything from the color of your fuchsia headbands to the stripes in your socks. In fact, I beg of you, please, please don’t. If you’re heart is set on everyone in white button downs and khaki pants, I’m probably not your girl.

4. Stressful
No need to worry about each and every item, or fret about the suitability of each accessory. This is supposed to be fun. If you’re unsure – call me, and together, we’ll make sure you look fabulous. I promise.

I want you to be happy, thrilled, over the moon about your images, and I know that this is much more likely if we take the time and work together to help you choose clothing that fits these few simple rules:

Feels Good.
During your shoot you could be sitting in a pile of leaves on the grass having a tickle battle, rolling down a hill with your family, throwing your kiddos in the air or climbing a tree. Wear clothing that lets you do all that (and more) comfortably.

As for the kids? Well…uncomfortable kids have a tendency to look…uncomfortable, and are often cranky to boot. Happy kids make for happy pictures.

Bottom Line: Don’t choose outfits that make any of you feel constrained, stiff, itchy, scratchy, like you’re dressed up for Halloween, or that leave you with a nagging worry that a button might pop if you bend the wrong way. Trust me.

Looks Good.
This can be tricky, looking good is totally subjective – right? If you’re not a Carrie Bradshaw fashionista in real life, you might want to pull in some extra help from a straight-talking friend or your trusty photographer (that would be me) who knows about such things and has plans in place to help.

Sometimes last year’s of-the-moment dress has already become hopelessly untrendy. Sometimes the current fashions just don’t look or feel like you. Sometimes outfits that look good in the mirror might not be ideally suited for photography. If you’re really looking for extra help, I can put you in touch with some incredible folks who make people look good for a living.

Bottom Line: If you don’t feel fabulous-fierce-take-on-the-world gorgeous in your outfit, you’re not going to love, love, love the end result – and I’m all about you love, love, loving the end result.

Makes Sense.
Here’s where we pull it all together. It’s not just enough that everyone look good and feel good – you’ve gotta look and feel good together AND the outfits should fit with your location and the desired mood for your portraits.

Glup. That seems like a lot, doesn’t it? (quick – revisit #4 in the top list, and remember, don’t stress).

Before you even begin figuring out your wardrobe, we’ll have an in depth consultation to narrow down what you really want for your pictures, choose the perfect location and make sure you have an understanding about how that all comes together in the finished photograph. I’m with you every step of the way.

Bottom Line: It’s easier than it seems.Think twice about having Emma in a lace Christmas dress if you can’t get Tommy out of his spider man cape and favorite Star Wars pajama top. If we’re going to be running around in a park, you’ll likely not decide to wear your starched Sunday best. Hate the way stripes and plaids look together but Dad has his favorite stripped polo ready to go? Best steer mom away from her beloved family tartan. Easy-Peasy. (unless Mom is really attached to that tartan, but we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it).

If you’re still not certain, and you can’t decide between the yellow wrap dress with your red heels or your dark skinny jeans and purple belted shirt – I’ve got good news. You don’t have to decide. Bring lots of options. Heck – throw your whole wardrobe into the back of the car. When we get to the session we’ll wing it all with fabulous results. Trust me.

Now take a deep breath. Close your eyes. Imagine how blow-everyone-away-fabulous-ready-for-America’s-Next-Top-Model you’re all going to look in those pictures….

Can you see it yet? I totally can. OMG, you look INCREDIBLE!

Happy first birthday little man! I have been looking forward to this session for a few weeks now. I photographed this cutie as a newborn and I have to say it was probably my most memorable and adventurous sessions ever. I could not wait to catch up with Mom and Dad and see how much their little boy had grown in one short year. It was freeeezing yesterday afternoon so we started out inside and then headed out to brave the cold. The birthday boy was adorable and so much fun!! And then... this is how I felt at the end of our session when I lost my car keys... Aw man!

Must be something in the water in this neighborhood. There sure has been a lot of newborns being born all within the last few months :-). It will be great when they can all play together too! The holidays are right around the corner and I am wrapping up the last of the holiday sessions for 2009. I had the pleasure of working with a dear friend's children yesterday. I rarely get to see her due to busy schedules and family life but I look forward to catching up every time we are together. I have photographed her baby boy as a newborn and then again when he learned to sit on his own. Now he is running and wow is he a cutie! Mom did an awesome job styling everyone for their session yesterday and what a beautiful family! You know I have a soft spot in my heart for sisters and the sisterly bond, and these two are priceless! Thank you for a great session! I have WAY too many favs. Here are just a few for now...

"OK, here is the game... pretend that this is a river and you have to try to jump from here over the river", "Can you take a picture of me climbing a tree?", "Now let's try to race around that tree, over there and then back". FUN! FUN! FUN! The imagination, spirit, and love that these two boys have just won me over. I can't leave out sweet baby girl. She is just an angel. It is cute to watch the boys go from running and jumping to tender snuggling with their baby sister. I had a ball. I L.O.V.E. my job! Here are a few sneak peeks...

Another beautiful fall day and a fabulous family to photograph (say that 5 times fast :-) Seriously though, this family is amazing! They are dear friends and I have always admired all of the fun things they do *with ease* with 3 young children under the age of 5! These little boys are so sweet and such a pleasure to photograph! "H" and "H" kept me on my toes. These little cutie pies are 1.5 and 2.5 years old and full of wonder and curiosity. I had a blast watching them explore and play as we went on many "adventures" through the neighborhood. We met dogs, played on swings, jumped on the trampoline, looked for ducks and played chase. It was a beautiful day and a fun filled afternoon. Thank you Mom and Aunt A for all of your help and thank you for choosing me as your photographer :-)! I enjoyed our time together!

I just love the light this time of year! Mmmm... and the colors in the trees are so beautiful. To top it all off, I had the opportunity to work with this happy little guy again! What a joy! I photographed him as a newborn and now (I still can't believe it) he is almost 1 year old! He was all smiles for me and made my job easy. What a perfect day! I adore these kids! I have been looking at this photo for days trying to figure out how I wanted to edit it. I think that I have finally settled on this :-), so now I can share it (hee hee). Such a sweet kiss! I love it! Have I told you how much I love my job lately?? When "S" contacted me about doing a session with her children I knew it would be fun! She is always so prepared and comes with the most awesome clothing choices for these two precious children... so much fun! I enjoyed our time together "S", "K" and "R"! Looking forward to "part II"!

... and 3 precious little girls equals 1 adorable photo session! After what seems like endless rainy days we finally got a beautiful sunny day. I met the "V" family in the park to get some photos for Christmas cards and we had a ball. By the end of the session little "A" had thrown in the towel and was done with the lady with the big black camera, but don't worry Mom... we still got some great ones. Here are a few sneak peeks. I felt like I was hanging out with good friends yesterday when I met the "W" family. When I walked in the door and heard mom yell from upstairs "Hey girl!", I knew we would click immediately. Grandma even showed up for extra help with smiles! I really enjoyed our time together "W" family and as you can see by this large sneak peek... I had trouble narrowing down the photos :-) from our session. Thank you for choosing me as your family photographer! I had a blast!
